Vardenafil Medication Information for Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (impotence) means that an erection does not occur or is not maintained. There are several causes for erectile dysfunction, the most common of which is narrowing of the blood vessels in the penis. Vardenafil is a vasodilator, which means that by dilating blood vessels, it works to improve blood flow, thereby increasing blood flow to the penis.

Vardenafil works by blocking the action of a chemical in the body called phosphodiesterase type 5. As a result, the blood vessels dilate and after sexual arousal, blood flow to the penis improves and an erection occurs. You can get this medicine by prescription.

Amount and method of taking vardenafil for erectile dysfunction

Read the package leaflet carefully before starting treatment with Vardenafil. This brochure will help you to get comprehensive information about the drug and its possible side effects.

Take Vardenafil exactly as your doctor advised.

There are three different doses of 5, 10 and 20 mg of vardenafil tablets that your doctor will prescribe the appropriate dose for you depending on your condition. A dose of 10 mg is the usual dose given at the beginning of treatment.

You should take one Vardenafil tablet at least 25-60 minutes before sex (the drug is effective up to 4-5 hours after taking the pill).

Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.

If you are taking Vardenafil for erectile dysfunction: Take one pill daily at a specific time of day.

You can take Vardenafil tablets with water before or after meals.

Contraindications to the use of vardenafil for erectile dysfunction

Never give the medicine to another person, even if you have the same symptoms.

Check for drug interactions, and if you are taking a drug that interacts with this medication, talk to your doctor about using your medications.

Vardenafil drug interactions for erectile dysfunction

Drug interactions may alter drug performance and increase the risk of serious side effects. Make a list of all the medicines (including prescription / over-the-counter and herbal medicines) you use and share them with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not change the dose of your medicine without consulting your doctor or stop taking the medicine.

Drug that may interact with vardenafil: riociguat.

If you are taking alpha blockers (such as doxazosin, tamsulosin) to treat an enlarged prostate or high blood pressure, your blood pressure may be too low, which can lead to dizziness or fainting. Your doctor may start treatment with a lower dose of vardenafil to minimize the risk of developing low blood pressure.

Drugs that can affect the removal of vardenafil from the body and how it works include: Azole antifungals (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole), cobicistat, macrolide antibiotics (such as clarithromycin), clarithromycin (clarithromycin) ), HIV protease inhibitors (such as fos amprenavir, ritonavir), hepatitis C virus protease inhibitors (such as boceprevir, telaprevir, nefazodone, rifampin).

In addition to vardenafil, many medications, including amiodarone, quinidine, sotalol, etc., may affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation).

Vardenafil should not be used with any other medicine containing Vardenafil or other similar medicines to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension (such as tadalafil and sildenafil).
