Solindac Pharmaceutical Information

Anti-inflammatory painkillers such as Solindac are sometimes called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or simply "anti-inflammatory drugs". Solindac is used to treat the pain of rheumatoid arthritis and pain caused by other muscle or joint injuries such as gout. This medicine relieves pain and inflammation.

Solindac is known to inhibit cyclo-oxygenase enzymes. It works by blocking the action of cyclooxygenase enzymes. Cyclooxygenase enzymes are involved in the production of chemicals that stimulate the response to the disease, and by blocking the action of cyclooxygenase enzymes, the stimulants are not released. As a result, by blocking the effect of the COX enzyme, less prostaglandins are produced and the symptoms of pain and inflammation in arthritis are reduced.
