Pharmacological information of pyrazone sulfine

Gout causes painful inflammatory attacks in one or more joints. This process is caused by the accumulation of chemicals in the blood called uric acid. Sometimes the level of uric acid in the blood rises sharply and crystalline bodies form in the joints and tendons, these crystals irritate the muscle tissue resulting in inflammation, pain and swelling. Pyrazone sulfine is used to prevent gout and malignant osteoarthritis.

It is not used to treat a sudden, severe attack of gout, but it may make the condition worse. Sulfinpyrazone belongs to a group of medicines called uricosuric drugs, which help the kidneys to excrete uric acid, which reduces high levels of uric acid in the body; As a result, it helps treat gout.

  • If you are also taking cholestyramine, take pyrazone sulfine at least one hour before or 4-6 hours after cholestyramine and talk to your doctor for more details.
  • Sulfinpyrazone is not a painkiller, you should use medications such as colchicine, indomethacin or naproxen to relieve muscle pain caused by gout.
  • If you forget to take your daily dose at the right time but soon forget, take the medicine; But if you remember when the next dose is near the hour, do not take the missed dose. You should not take two doses of the medicine together because of the missed dose.
