Pharmaceutical Information Sodium Residronate

Medication Information: Sodium residronate is prescribed to treat two bone diseases called Paget's disease or osteoporosis. Bone is weaker than normal in people with Paget's disease and may easily deform or break. For many people, Paget's disease has no side effects and does not require treatment. It is the most common symptom of pain in people with symptoms. Typically, this deep pain may get worse at night. Their pain is treated and reduced with sodium rosidronate.

Sodium residronate is also used to prevent or treat osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a bone disease that causes your bones to become brittle and prone to fractures. Throughout our lives, old bone tissue is constantly being destroyed and replaced with new bone.

After the age of about 35, our bone density begins to decline because old bone tissue is destroyed faster than it can be replaced with new bone. Women are especially at risk for bone disease because they lose bone tissue quickly after menopause. Sodium rosidronate reduces the rate of bone loss of old bone and continues to build new bone, leading to an overall increase in bone density, which reduces the risk of bone fractures and fractures. Bones also need calcium and vitamin D3 to stay strong and healthy.
