 Nizatidine Drug Information

Nizatidine belongs to a group of drugs that reduce the production of acid by the cells lining the stomach. These drugs are called histamine H2 receptor antagonists. But they are commonly called H2 inhibitors. Nizatidine is useful for treating diseases caused by overproduction of stomach acid. These diseases include stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, gastric reflux and indigestion. Although nizatidine is effective in treating these diseases, in practice other therapies are preferred. Nizatidine is also used to treat stomach ulcers caused by NSAIDs.

Stomach acid is naturally produced for digestion. Too much acid can damage the lining of the stomach, resulting in inflammation, ulcers and other illnesses. Famotidine works by reducing the production of acid in the stomach. This mechanism reduces the symptoms of the disease and helps to improve the treatment process in the disease.
