Nitrofurantoin Drug Information

Medication Information: Urinary tract infections are sometimes referred to as urinary tract infections or UTIs. Most urinary tract infections are caused by bacteria that live in a person's gut. These infections are usually easily treated with a short course of nitrofurantoin. Long-term courses of this drug are usually prescribed to prevent recurrence of the disease. Nitrofurantoin kills disease-causing bacteria.

 

Contraindications to nitrofurantoin

Note the expiration date of the nitrofurantoin drug and do not take it if the expired drug is out of date.

Never give nitrofurantoin to anyone else, even if you have the same symptoms.

Do not take more than the dose prescribed by your doctor for nitrofurantoin.

Nitrofurantoin drug interaction

It may alter the function of the medication and increase the risk of serious side effects. Tips to consider before taking nitrofurantoin
