Imicoimod drug information

Medication Information: Imicoimod cream is prescribed to treat one of three different skin diseases. This cream is used to eliminate genital warts, a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma, or a type of sun damage called sun keratosis. This medicine helps your immune system fight skin damage.

Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is transmitted through sexual contact. These warts are small lumps that grow on the genitals or around the anus. Actinic keratosis, or solar keratosis, is a small, thick, scaly mass that forms on the skin. They usually develop in areas of the skin that are exposed to a lot of sunlight (over a period of time). Basal cell carcinoma is a common skin cancer that typically develops in areas exposed to sunlight, such as the head and neck.
