Medication Information: Hydroxycarbamide is used to treat a type of leukemia called chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Hydroxycarbamide may be used to treat cervical cancer along with other medicines. Hydroxycarbamide is also used to reduce pain associated with sickle cell disease (sickle cell anemia). In this disease, red blood cells become abnormal and clog blood vessels, causing pain. Hydroxycarbamide reduces pain in patients by preventing cell deformation.
