Ear keeps popping

If you are suffering from cap and fullness of ears and this issue worries you ...
If you feel that something is cracking in your ear due to capping and heaviness of the ear canal, if you have experienced the above conditions many times and you want to know the cause, we recommend that you read on.

Introduction
Most of us have a laid back attitude when it comes to painting a picture about ourselves. And try to eliminate this cape of feeling full by sometimes wrong actions.  It has happened to us that with a sound like bursting, which in some cases is very painful and uncomfortable, this feeling of fullness and heaviness in the ear is relieved. This article is intended to make you more familiar with the causes that cause you to experience fullness and fullness of the ear and then something explodes in the ear.

Why do we get popping in our ears?

There are a number of disorders that can cause ringing, cramping, and ringing in the ears, and we may experience a bursting sensation in the ear when the cramping goes away.
Many cases of ear congestion and the above experiences are temporary and transient and go away, but there are cases that recur frequently and if left untreated can cause permanent hearing problems for the affected person, so if you have chronic, persistent and recurrent symptoms You must see a doctor.

What is the cause of the feeling of something exploding in the ear or hearing a sound similar to the crushing of leaves in the ear?

What is called ear popping is the process that the ear does to get rid of the pressure imbalance between the air on both sides of the tympanic membrane. In the following, we want to talk about the process that causes popping.

How is the popping process created?

In each ear there is a structure on each side called the Eustachian tube. The Eustachian tube is a narrow tube-like structure that connects the middle ear behind the tympanic membrane to the top of the throat and the back of the nose. The above plays a very important role for your health.
The main functions of the Eustachian tube are:
Prevents infectious agents from reaching the middle ear and also balances the pressure between the two sides of the tympanic membrane and does not allow the pressure of one side to increase from the other side. It also helps expel secretions from the middle ear and enter the throat, and the middle ear is ventilated by the Eustachian tube.
When the pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane becomes unbalanced, for example when climbing heights or when climbing a plane or when descending a mountain, when landing a plane, when diving, when yawning, coughing, forcing and lifting heavy objects. The Eustachian tube opens to balance the pressure difference between the two sides of the tympanic membrane at once. This sudden opening and balancing of the pressure in the middle ear is what we call ear popping, and people express it as something exploding in the ear with pain and discomfort.

What causes ear congestion and subsequent popping in the ear?

We have said that ear popping actually occurs when, following a blockage, a cap, creating an imbalance between the air pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane of the Eustachian tube, suddenly opens after the pressure inside the throat rises, and this pressure (between the two sides of the tympanum) is balanced.

What can cause ear congestion?

Here are the most common ones.

The first reason
Inadequacy of the Eustachian tube:
The Eustachian tube is a tubular structure that connects the ear to the top of the throat and the back of the nose on each side.
The task of this pipe:
Cleansing of infectious agents and secretions from the middle ear.
Prevent infectious agents from reaching the middle ear from the throat.
It also balances the pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane and ventilates the middle ear space.
Whatever causes the Eustachian tube to fail to do its job, we will feel full, stuffy, clumsy, and heavy in our ears, which many people say they feel have fluid stuck in their ears.
In short, Eustachian tube dysfunction is the main and most common cause of eardrums.
Eustachian tube dysfunction can be accompanied by the following symptoms:
the pain
Discomfort
Hear the ringing in the ears
Feel the cape of the ear
Balance problems when walking
And hearing impairment
Create hearing loss
The exact cause of Eustachian tube dysfunction is not yet known, and the following are some of the causes of Eustachian tube dysfunction:
Allergic reactions
Infections
Inflammations
Because these factors cause the inner lining of the Eustachian tube to swell, the space inside the tube becomes narrower and prone to narrowing and obstruction. Also, deviation of the nasal septum can cause the Eustachian tube to malfunction. There are also muscles that open and close. The Eustachian tube is controlled, and if these muscles do not move properly, the person will have Eustachian dysfunction.

What treatment measures should we take to correct Eustachian tube dysfunction?

We must say that most of the symptoms are mild and resolve spontaneously without therapeutic intervention.
Swallowing saliva tightly, yawning, and chewing gum can help even out the pressure on both sides of your eardrum, followed by the sudden opening of the Eustachian tube and the formation and popping of the ear.

The second cause is the accumulation of compressed wax in the ear
Ear wax is a chemical compound secreted by external duct cells to protect the ear from infections as well as to prevent water and pests from entering.
Your ear has a mechanism called self-cleaning. In this way, the earwax is automatically cleared from the ear through this involuntary mechanism, and sometimes this mechanism malfunctions and accumulates.

Symptoms of earwax accumulation include:
Feeling uncomfortable in the ear
Itching of the external ear canal
Hear the ringing in the ears
Confusion
Ear pain
Hearing loss
Feeling cramped
Cough and bad breath are other symptoms

The following are some of the causes of earwax:
Children and the elderly, people with cognitive impairment, people with a history of recurrent ear infections, and people who use dual-format hearing aids and soundproof covers; Because hearing aids and anti-noise molds disrupt the natural mechanism of ear cleaning and increase the amount of secretion and earwax.
It often happens that we want to remove the accumulated earwax ourselves. We must say that removing the earwax and cleaning the ear regularly is not ideal.
Measures for the accumulation of ear bacteria:
The earwax itself (normally) has antibacterial and protective properties, and if the doctor determines that the earwax should be drained, he uses three methods:

Method 1) Prescribing sermonolytic agents, which are substances that soften the mass of the ear so that it can be easily removed
Method 2) ear wash
Method 3) Manual removal with hook or forceps or suction

The third reason
Increased pressure inside the sinuses
The sinuses are the empty spaces inside the bones of our face. If the mucous membrane, which is the innermost layer of the wall of the respiratory sinuses, becomes inflamed, there will be a blockage of the sinus communication opening and an increase in intra-sinus pressure will occur.

Symptoms of increased pressure inside the sinuses:

Symptoms include nasal congestion and congestion of the ears and ringing in the ears, decreased sense of smell, pain, tenderness, pressure in the face of headache, fever , runny nose, accumulation of discharge from the back of the nose and pain in the upper jaw teeth.
Most cases of sinusitis are viral and do not require treatment and resolve on their own within 5 to 7 days, but it is emphasized that chronic sinusitis, chronic nasal and ear congestion must be examined by a doctor.

The fourth reason
Plane ears
Plane earache refers to the discomfort that some people experience when taking off or landing. Sometimes people experience severe pain when boarding or landing.

Plane ear symptoms:
Other symptoms include a feeling of intense fullness, ringing in the ears and popping of the ear and accumulation of blood in the middle ear cavity.
In describing the cause of some people being caught in the ear of the plane, we must say that when you are in a situation where there are rapid changes in air pressure; In these cases, the balance of pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane is disturbed and the person is affected by the ear of the plane.

The fifth reason
Middle ear infections: Middle ear infections are called otitis media by doctors because the Eustachian tube is shorter and narrower in infants and children. It is more common in infants as well as infants 6 months to 2 years of age.
Symptoms of middle ear infections can include:
Ear pain
Headache
Vomit
Diarrhea
Low-grade fever
Insomnia as well as ear congestion and ear pain and ear popping and ringing were noted.
Causes can be viruses and bacteria or a combination of both; Also, the presence of allergens and a history of allergies predispose a person to these infections. Genetics of structural abnormalities, vitamin A deficiency, and infants and children who are not breastfed, Going to daycare, exposure to smoke and air pollution, and implantable hearing aids can increase the risk; controlling antibiotics, acids, Acetaminophen is prescribed.

Next cause (sixth)
Munir disease is an inner ear disease
People in the early stages of the disease sometimes experience hearing loss, dizziness, and a feeling of tightness; symptoms include the following:
The person suffers dizziness attacks that each attack can last twenty minutes to 12 hours and feels full in the ear, has ringing in the ears, the person becomes deaf; These hearing loss attacks occur at low to moderate frequencies, occurring first during and after a dizziness attack and then can become permanent.
Genetics and environmental factors play a role in increasing a person's risk of developing the disease, and it is also said that people with problems have problems with the structures of the inner ear, predisposing them to increased pressure on their inner ear fluids.
There is no definitive cure for Munir. Lifestyle changes, including not eating salty foods ,advice on medications such as motion sickness and sometimes surgery can be helpful.

The seventh cause of benign tumor of the auditory nerve is acoustic neuroma
This 8-brain pair nerve tumor, which is responsible for transmitting auditory and balance data and information from the environment to the brain, one of the symptoms is that at first the person has no symptoms and can gradually develop one or more of the following symptoms:
Unilateral hearing loss
Confusion
Problem with balance
Ear ring
Numbness and paralysis on that side of the face
Interestingly, although the tumor is benign, if it grows, it can put pressure on vital parts of the brain and be life-threatening.
Genetics and some women on chromosome 22 are at risk for developing this tumor; Small tumors do not require surgery and only regular follow-up is recommended. In larger tumors, surgery as well as radiotherapy are recommended.

Diagnosis

You should see a doctor if you experience frequent cramps and cracking of your ears; The doctor will take a detailed history of you, examine your history of trauma and illness, ask about other clinical signs and symptoms, and then examine your ear with an otoscope.
There are different types of study and examination methods with which the doctor examines the normal and abnormal movement of the tympanic membrane.
It sees the external ear canal and also requires standard audiometry to assess the type and severity of existing hearing loss.
Another point that is important in the diagnosis is that the doctor must also examine and observe these intersections of the throat, that mean larynx, back of the nose, esophagus; Medical imaging, such as MRI, is also needed to confirm or rule out the possibility of a tumor, whether benign or malignant.

In the following cases, you must see a doctor with ear popping
If your ear congestion is prolonged and chronic; If the usual treatments have not responded; Or if you have previously seen a doctor for an ear and sinus infection and have taken antibiotics for a bacterial infection and have not recovered despite taking it during the prescribed period, you should see a doctor.
Also, if it is accompanied by chronic congestion and popping and has not improved
If you have bleeding from the ear
If you have pus coming out and purulent bloody discharge from your ear
If you have severe pain that is increasing
If you have hearing loss
Or you have hearing loss
If your face is numb or paralyzed on the affected side of the ear, you should see a doctor immediately. Another point is that you should never try to remove the ear wax that has accumulated in the ear yourself.
