Calcolam Drug Information

Calcolam works in the body as a bile acid extract. This means that the drug binds to the bile acids in your digestive tract and prevents bile acids from being reabsorbed into your body. This procedure can be useful for people whose blood cholesterol level is higher than normal.

Lipids or fats can be easily stored in your body and act as an energy source. Cholesterol is a type of fat that is made in your liver by the fatty foods you eat. When the concentration of cholesterol in your blood is high, it is called an increase in blood cholesterol. Although high blood cholesterol does not make you feel sick, it can be a problem if left untreated.

With calcolam, your bile acids are not reabsorbed and as a result your liver has to produce more bile acids; This is done using your blood cholesterol. As a result, the amount of cholesterol in the blood decreases and the risk of heart disease decreases.

Calcolam (Colasolam) may be given alone or in combination with other fat-lowering drugs to treat high cholesterol.

Dosage and method of taking Calcolam

  • Read the package leaflet carefully before starting treatment with Calcolam. This brochure will help you to get comprehensive information about the drug and its possible side effects.
  • The dose and amount of colsolam varies from person to person; Use the medicine exactly as your doctor advised. Usually 4-6 tablets a day are prescribed, which should be taken in one or two doses.
  • Take Calcolam with a snack or immediately after a meal. Swallow the tablet with a drink such as water and avoid chewing.
  • Colosulam can stop the absorption of many other medicines. If you are taking other medicines, you should take them 4 hours before or 4-6 hours after calcolam. This is especially important if you are taking oral contraceptives.
  • If you are taking a statin or a medicine called aztimib to help lower your cholesterol, you can take these medicines at the same time as colsolam. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have difficulty planning your medication.
  • If you forget to take your daily dose of Calcolam at the right time but soon forget to take it; But if you remember when the next dose is near the hour, do not take the missed dose. You should not take two doses of the medicine together because of the missed dose.
