Carodilol Drug Information
Drug Information: Carvedilol belongs to a group of drugs called beta-blockers. It works on the heart and blood vessels. Carvedilol blocks small areas (called beta-adrenergic receptors) that receive messages sent by some nerves to the heart and arteries. As a result, your heart rate slows down and pumps blood with less force. Blood pressure in the blood vessels decreases and it becomes easier for the heart to pump blood around the body.
If you have high blood pressure or heart failure, you are prescribed carvedilol and it can be effective for your recovery. Because carodilol helps your heart use less energy, carvedilol is also prescribed to reduce chest pain in patients with angina pectoris.
