Capsitabine Drug Information

Drug Information: In cancer, certain cells in the body grow and multiply too fast. When cancer cells multiply, a tumor forms. Anticancer drugs such as capsaicin slow tumor growth by interfering with the growth of cancer cells. Capsitabine is used to treat colon cancer and stomach cancer, and sometimes for breast cancer.

Drug interactions may alter drug performance and increase the risk of serious side effects. Make a list of all the medicines (including prescription / over-the-counter and herbal medicines) you use and share them with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not change the dose of your medicine without consulting your doctor or stop taking the medicine.

Some medications that may interact with this medicine include: folic acid (including multivitamins containing folic acid), leucovorin, metronidazole, and tinidazole.

Capsitabine can slow the elimination of other drugs from the body and affect how these drugs work. Examples of affected drugs include "blood thinners" (such as warfarin), fosphenytoin.

Capsitabine is very similar to fluorouracil. Do not use fluorouracil medicines with capsaicin.
